Kaarlo Sarkia(1902-1945)
The chains of the autumn mists broke,
summer its prisoner releases:
Now the seams of the clouds burst,
are falling snowflakes!
Through the air they silently sway
over the barren, desolate land.
How the restless heart
yearns for a white frost lily.
How blessed it's to allow
cool snow to chill
that brow which still bears
summer's burning memory!
(Ensi lumi; Velka elämälle, 1931, sivu 53.)
