A SONG ABOUT HAPPINESS

Eino Leino(1878-1926)

Who has happiness, should happiness hide,
who has a treasure, should the treasure cover,
and be glad of their happiness
and rich of their mirth only alone.

Happiness doesn't survive the gaze of people.
Who possesses happiness, should go into wilderness
and live there quietly, quietly only
and silently rejoice of their happiness.

(Laulu onnesta; Hiihtäjän virsiä, 1900.)
