Kaarlo Sarkia(1902-1945)
You far, far away there,
for your sake my soul is desolate.
Carpet of autumn leaves on the road,
that golden-heavy, I don't deny,
is my pain's image,
is my opulent pain's image.
Not a single flower shining
by the road fiery, intoxicating.
I recall an another autumn,
that flowering, shiny,
crowned by your smile,
crowned by the carnation of your smile.
You took back your flower from me,
what you took, that I allowed you to take.
I'm full the fire of longing,
it's like gold heavy:
I can live,
without alms I can live.
