Kössi Kaatra(1882-1928)
Speak o stones and fracture,
cliffs, to fragments yet.
Oh, spew fire, heaven. Earth
now accrue into tears.
What, Lord of ours kneels?
Oh heaven, how can you tolerate?
He, the King, onto a slab reclines,
shake o walls, bulwarks.
Doesn't open the sky, tremble the earth;
the night a dark blanket weaves.
In the bosom of the night friends fall asleep,
when a tear of the Pure One drops.
(Getsemanessa, Kynnyksellä, 1903.)
