Kaarlo Kramsu(1855-1895)
So black, so gloomy the autumn night be;
But gloomier yet is my life's way;
Even in night can twinkle a star still;
But no stars on my life's path.
The hope of the night stars bright are:
They point to light and the sun.
But hopes don't with my life follow:
I always have spent a starless night.
Oh, in night, Creator, one star create
And it shine to my mind wretched let.
It I would in joy follow on my life's road
and dying would still be looking at it.
(Onneton, from Runoelmia, 1887.)
