Kaarlo Kramsu(1855-1895)
If the voice of the lark I would have,
then to you, my dearest, I would sing
and your heart so gentle with my song
I would enchant with the passion of love.
The voice of a lark has not been granted to me,
uglier not even the sound of a raven;
of course I sing, my dearest, still to you,
because no ear for song on you at all.
(Jos oisi, from Runoelmia, 1887.)
